The Mill and Mill Village in the 1930's

Although the exact date of this photo is not known, it was used by the mill in Public Relations advertisements in the Mooresville Enterprise newspaper in 1939.
Behind the second row of mill buildings sits two rows of houses that no longer exist today. Those flanked the northern side of Summer Street. Behind the second row of mill buildings sits two blocks of houses on Summer and Spruce Streets between Brawley Avenue and Mills Avenue. Those two blocks of houses were eventually eliminated in the 1940's and replaced by mill buildings. As the mill expanded, it moved the houses from those blocks to infill lots scattered throughout the Mill Village.
